JIMMIE V. LEACH BIO
Jimmie Leach has been in law enforcement since 1975. Beginning his career with the Safety and Security Department at the University of Tennessee at Martin. He later accepted a position with the Sharon Tennessee Police Department and eventually moved on to become a Trooper with the Tennessee Highway Patrol.
Mr. Leach went on to become a Special Agent with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation where he specialized in the investigation of violent crime, official corruption, narcotics, and undercover work of all types. He was eventually promoted to Special Agent in Charge and was tasked with supervising 27 criminal investigators that covered 53 counties east of Nashville.
In 1988 he was appointed Director of the Criminal Investigation Division for the Tennessee Department of Safety, also known as the THP CID. He grew the division from 45 members to 150 and expanded their duties to covering every type of crime that in the state. They now covered everything from felony traffic stops to murder cases and everything in between. They also handled any serious internal investigations in the department.
Mr. Leach also served as a cold case homicide investigator for the Jackson Tennessee Police department, as well as the Gibson and Madison County Sheriff Departments. In 1984 he co-founded the Training Services Group with Dennis Mays and they have provided law enforcement, homeland security, workplace violence, and personal safety training to thousands of students throughout the United States.
Jimmie was also inducted into the 2019 Carroll County Sports Hall of Fame.
